Laneway Festival 2027 Australian Cities List Updated: Laneway Festival 2027 Drops Adelaide and Perth From Its Lineup.
Bad news for music fans in Adelaide and Perth: Laneway Festival will not be returning to either city in 2027. After two big years featuring major pop names such as Charli xcx and Chappell Roan, organisers are scaling back the festival next year.
In 2027, Laneway will return to Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland. Brisbane is back on the schedule after the festival held its event on the Gold Coast for one year.
The 2027 dates and lineup have not been announced yet, but organisers say more details will be revealed in the coming months. The decision is a significant disappointment for fans in Adelaide and Perth, especially Adelaide, which is recognised as a UNESCO City of Music.
Why Is Laneway Festival Skipping Adelaide and Perth?
Organisers say the decision comes down to the huge logistical challenge of running the festival across multiple cities in a short period.
In a statement shared on Instagram, Laneway organisers addressed fans in both cities directly.
“To our Adelaide and Perth friends, we know this will be disappointing. In 2027, Laneway will be taking a break in your cities,” organisers said.
They explained that the festival has spent more than two decades travelling across Australia and New Zealand, with previous editions also held in Singapore and Detroit.
“Running so many shows, so close together, across so much ground is a logistical feat we are proud of, but it also asks a lot of our lineup and crew.”
Organisers believe taking a break from Adelaide and Perth will give the festival more time to focus on its remaining cities. It could also make it easier for artists to schedule their own headline shows in places that are not part of the Laneway route.
“Taking a pause allows us to focus on making the festival the best it can be, while freeing up time for more artists to bring headline shows to cities beyond our festival stops.”
Laneway Says It Isn’t Goodbye
While Adelaide and Perth will miss out in 2027, organisers stressed that the decision is not permanent. “Adelaide and Perth, we love you! We are incredibly grateful to every single person who has shown up for us over the years.”
They added: “This isn’t goodbye, just see you soon.”
For now, fans in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland can look forward to more news about the 2027 festival.
Dates, venues and the full lineup are expected to be announced in the coming months.
