About Bikini Kill:
Bikini Kill is an American punk rock band that started in Olympia, Washington, in October 1990. The original members were singer Kathleen Hanna, guitarist Billy Karren, bassist Kathi Wilcox, and drummer Tobi Vail.
The Bikini Kill band became famous for helping lead the riot grrrl movement. Their songs shared strong feminist messages and powerful ideas. They were also known for their loud, energetic performances. Their music had a rough and intense punk style.
Bikini Kill released five major projects, including albums and special recordings. In 1997, the band decided to break up. Many years later, they came back together in 2017. In 2019, they reunited again and continued performing with new members.
In 2025, a writer named Jeff Mezydlo named Bikini Kill as one of the most underrated bands from the 1990s. He said they were worth discovering again.
