Michael Franti Tour 2025: Michael Franti, a musician from the Bay Area, has canceled his tour in 2025. He is facing serious allegations. A younger female musician who once toured with him says she was a victim of “grooming.”
Franti, who is 59 years old, admitted he had an extramarital affair. But he strongly denies grooming anyone. The story came out when Victoria Canal, a musician who joined Franti and his band Spearhead at age 19, spoke about her experience.
She said a much older, powerful man (not naming Franti directly) touched her while she was sleeping on the tour bus, made her share a room with him, and took pictures without her consent.
Victoria Canal, now 27 years old, wrote on Instagram that if she wanted a bed or a shower, she had to share them with the man in power ( Instagram).
Michael Franti has not named anyone directly, but he says he had a romantic relationship with an artist he toured with. He says it was consensual, not grooming.
After Canal’s allegations, more people have also shared similar stories about Franti, who grew up in Oakland.
The “Soulshine at Sea” cruise, which Franti was supposed to lead in November, has been canceled after many artists left. Reports also say Franti is no longer with his longtime management company, Activist Artist Management.
Now, it looks like Franti has canceled his entire tour. His website shows that all dates, including an August 26 show at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga, have been removed.
Who is Michael Franti?
Michael Franti was born on April 21, 1966. He is a singer, songwriter, and activist. He is best known as the leader of the band Michael Franti & Spearhead. His music career started in the 1980s with groups called The Beatnigs and The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. Later, in the 1990s, he formed Spearhead.
Some of the band’s famous albums are Stay Human (2001) and All Rebel Rockers (2008).
Allegations from Victoria Canal
Earlier this month, Victoria Canal, a singer-songwriter, posted on Instagram. She said that when she was 19, she was sexually abused and groomed by a very powerful man in the music industry. On August 11, Canal wrote: “This is something I’ve never spoken about publicly. I have carried it for 8 years, and it has hurt my body, spirit, and mind all through my 20s.”
